Foreclosure mediation in Indiana
Indiana gives homeowners a legal right to a court settlement conference with the lender after a foreclosure is filed against their home. You must ask the court within 30 days of being served, and it costs you nothing. The Indiana Supreme Court's Mortgage Foreclosure Trial Court Assistance Project pays trained facilitators to run these conferences.

The program in Indiana
Foreclosure mediation
Program availableYes. If the lender has filed to foreclose on your primary residence, you have a right to a court settlement conference with the lender. You must ask the court within 30 days after you are served, using the request form, a phone call, or a visit to the court named on your summons. There is no cost to you, and the court must wait to rule for the lender until the conference is over. Courts can refer cases to a facilitator through the Indiana Supreme Court's Mortgage Foreclosure Trial Court Assistance Project. You do not get this right if the home is not your primary residence, if you already defaulted on an earlier foreclosure prevention agreement, or if the court finds a conference would be of little value after past workout efforts.
